About
Hello
Layerlane is still active; Tommy D's is my field job. Field Service Scheduler is the product I'm building there.

Hi, I'm Gary.
I'm a UX-focused technologist with a background in Informatics and a passion for bridging people and process.
I earned my B.S. in Informatics from Indiana University, specializing in Human-Centered Computing.
I combine design, code, and hands-on systems work to create solutions that actually make sense to real users.
Layerlane is ongoing: I still operate it—UX analytics and software for small teams—while I work as a garage door installer at Tommy D's (Windows, Doors, & More). The product tied to that job is Field Service Scheduler: a Next.js app for scheduling, quotes, job tracking, and roles—the case study is the same work as the job.
I spent a season as a Manufacturing Engineer at Goodwill Commercial Services—leading process improvements, managing product transfers, and translating complex systems into practical results—through May 2025.

The through-line
Layerlane and Tommy D's are both current. Field Service Scheduler appears as the installer role with a link—one story, not two cards.
The catalog lists Field Service Scheduler as a case study; the timeline ties it to the job it was built for.
